If you follow me on Instagram, you may know that I started sharing quotes to my stories as I came across them on Pinterest. I was very consistent at first, but started to be less consistent, mostly because I didn’t want to share any quote I came across. I wanted them to be good and meaningful and some nice graphics didn’t hurt either. 😉
But, seriously, I was reluctant to share them at first because sometimes quotes can be cheesy, and maybe you think these are, but I chose these five specifically because I think they say things that you can incorporate into your daily life to make yourself and the people around you happier.
1 “We rise by lifting others”
This is definitely one of my favorite quotes ever and something I am not perfect at, but am trying to be better with. We can lift others in so many ways and many of them are quite simple. Give someone a compliment-tell them their hair looks great, you love their shoes or they did a great job handling a tough situation. You can donate to Goodwill or a local animal shelter. If you notice one of your friends seems off, ask them to go to lunch. Doing something for someone else always makes you feel better, even if you know you will never get a thank you or meet the person who you are giving to. Knowing that you’re making a difference will be all that matters.
2 “Wherever you are, be all there”
I think this is something that so many of us, including me, are guilty of. Have you ever been headed home from a trip and wished that you had spent less time on your phone and more time just looking at what was in front of you or talking to the people you were with? It’s so easy to fall into the trap of taking pictures and wanting to post them immediately. Sometimes, in a group, everyone is on their phones and no one wants to be the one to say put your phones down and enjoy the moment! But, it’s something you should totally do. If you’re dying for a picture, take it, but put your phone down afterward. I have been on trips where I didn’t have my phone out and, on the way home, wished I had gotten a picture of something. But, I had a better memory of it because I was actually looking at it in the moment and I think that’s something you won’t ever regret.
This doesn’t only pertain to phones, though. I sometimes catch myself saying, “uh huh” or “yeah” to something someone has just said to me, but I really have no clue what they said because I was thinking about this or worried about that and I always feel so badly when I have to ask them to repeat it. This quote is something that I definitely need to remember and practice more often.
3 “Anyone can find the dirt in someone. Be the one who finds the gold.”
You never know what someone else is going through. Maybe it looks like they are doing terribly at something, whether it be parenting or their job. Maybe they are an addict or just seem to be mean or angry all the time. No matter what the “dirt” is, unless you walk in their shoes, you have no idea why it’s there. And maybe there is a lot more gold than dirt once you start looking. 🙂
4 “Enjoy the little things”
Something we all could do a little bit more, for sure. “Little” could mean anything to you, whether it is your husband making you coffee in the morning, your little one giving you a hug or your best friend buying you lunch. There are people who would kill for whatever the little things are in your life. Maybe her husband is deployed or has passed away. Maybe she can’t have children and would love to have a child come running to her, sticky hands and all. Or, maybe, she doesn’t have any good friends and would love to be the one buying someone lunch. No matter what your “little” is, enjoy it & appreciate it as best you can.
5 “Let joy be your compass”
What a good reminder this one is. This can range from anything as small as where to go for dinner to something as big as taking a job offer or moving to a new state. Will it make you happy? If so, will it be temporary or will you still be happy with your decision in a few years? I think “yolo” is the silliest, most ridiculous phrase ha! But, it is true that you only have one life to live, so you may as well make choices (within reason, of course) that will let you enjoy it. 🙂
I hope you love these as much as I do. Like I said, I know they may seem cheesy, but I thought I could use a little change from the usual outfit posts and I really love finding these quotes on Pinterest. If you’d like to see more, you can follow my “Inspirational” board on Pinterest here.

XO,
**As mentioned, all photos were taken from Pinterest.**
I always enjoy reading quotes. They always make me feel better and remind me of how I want to live and treat other people.
Great list of great quotes! My fav (which is very similar to yours) is “A Rising Tide Raises All Ships.” You’ve inspired me to think about my top 5!
I have never heard that one, but I love it! So happy you like these too! 😊
I love quotes so much! I have a Pinterest board dedicated to them. These ones you shared are awesome. I love “wherever you are, be all there.” It’s so easy to get caught up on our phones or with other things that we miss out on a lot of awesome moments. Anyway- love these quotes!! Thanks for sharing!
I could search quotes on Pinterest all day! You are so right-phones can be such a huge distraction! So glad you love these too! ❤️
I love the one on being all there. I’m trying harder to really be mentally present with the people I’m around. Beautiful post ❤️
It’s something I am really trying to be better at! Thanks so much, Veronika ❤️

I am so happy to hear that! I’ll definitely check out your Instagram too! 😊
I love all 5 of these quotes. My favorite is: We rise by lifting others. I pray daily for the Lord to use my family to be a blessing to someone else. You never know the impact you can have on someone else! Thanks for sharing!
That is amazing, Cayla ❤️ You are so right-you never know what someone else is going through and how you may be helping them. So happy you liked these! 😊
As always, I love your post. I love short + sweet quotes–they can really hit hard. I especially love the second one…be all there!
Thanks so much, Aly! That one is so good! I’m so happy you like these too! There are so many good ones on Pinterest, it was hard to choose!
Wow, love all these quotes! #1 resonates with me in particular as a female blogger, because it seems we all benefit when we’re creating a supportive and encouraging environment for each other. Thanks for sharing these wise words : )
I totally agree! The blogging world is a lot more fun when everyone is supportive. So glad you like them! 😊
I liked all of the quotes you’ve shared here. I especially like the one regarding finding the gold in people. It is all too easy to harp on the faults (dirt) of another. It is, however, so worth it to look for and find what’s good in them. Thanks for sharing!
I couldn’t agree more! Thanks so much, Juanita! 😊
Enjoy the little things. Because, some day, you’ll wake up and realize the little things were the big things. So very true. <3
I LOVE that! You are so right! 🙂
It’s easy to find the flaws (and in ourselves). Finding the Gold in someone is my favorite here, but they are all superb!
You are so right-it is so true about ourselves too! Thanks, Caroline! So happy you like them 🙂
