If you follow along on Instagram, I’m sure you saw that Dave and I recently went to Charleston to celebrate our second anniversary! It was our first time there and we absolutely loved it! It really is just as beautiful as it looks in all of the pictures and every street has a building that has prettier colors than the last. We were only there for a few days and tried to squeeze in as much as we can, but there are so many restaurants and things to do that we easily could have spent a few more days there!

One of our favorite things we did was rent these bikes from Holy Spokes. For $12, you can rent a bike for 24 hours and there are tons of places throughout the city to return them when you’re finished. And it doesn’t hurt that they’re so pretty. 🙂 We rode them for a few hours and took them to the Waterfront and to see The Battery! I would say renting bikes is definitely a must since you’ll get to see so much of Charleston in just a few hours.

I was so excited to see Rainbow Row that we went on our first day! It is such a fun street. It’s not that big of a stretch, so chances are that you won’t be the only one taking a picture while you’re there, but thankfully it wasn’t too busy when we went! The locals told us that it was crazy all summer in Charleston, but September really didn’t seem too crowded. We didn’t have to wait at any of the restaurants we went to, which really surprised me, but it was great!

This picture was taken in front of our hotel while we were waiting for our Lyft driver ha! We absolutely loved Hotel Indigo. The rooms looked so pretty in the pictures and I was really hoping the hotel would be just as nice in person, but I think it was even better! From the second you walk in, everything is so modern and bright and the colors are so fun. The headboards in the room are bright pink and the walls are beautiful-they’re a deep blue, but they’re textured. I don’t know how they did it, but it’s amazing! And the pool makes you feel like you’re in a tropical resort.

When we first booked the trip, we really weren’t planning to spend any time at a pool, but when we saw how nice it was, we ended up going almost every day. We didn’t eat there, but the breakfast smelled really good. Dave did get a few drinks from the bar and the bartenders were all really nice. The hotel actually just opened a few months ago, so it’s in perfect shape and really affordable. We’d definitely recommend it!

We heard so much about the plantations in Charleston that we knew we definitely wanted to go to at least one. After looking at the Magnolia Plantation and the Boone Hall Plantation online, we decided to go with the Magnolia Plantation. They both look amazing and so beautiful, but we really liked that the Magnolia Plantation had a boat tour. We ended up loving the boat tour, so I’m really happy we did it! We even got lucky and were able to do the boat tour for a discounted price because they were trying to attract visitors after the hurricane.

The night before we went to the plantation, I decided to check Groupon and ended up saving $10 on our tickets, so definitely check on there before going! We ate breakfast ate the plantation, but I would definitely recommend eating elsewhere before you get there. The food definitely wasn’t what we were expecting, but the rest of it was beautiful and there are so many tours to choose from in addition to the boat tour. I also have the Magnolia Plantation to thank for my first ever bite from a red ant. Man did that thing hurt!

Before we got to Charleston, I had seen Sugar Bakeshop online and knew that I wanted to go! Our wedding cake had lemon in it and we decided to make it a tradition to always have some sort of lemon cake on our anniversary and we found the cutest lemon cupcakes there! Unfortunately, they got a little messy while they were in the basket on my bike, but they were still delicious. 🙂

I obviously had to stop at the American Theater for a picture since Noah and Allie went there in The Notebook. 🙂
