When we started planning our honeymoon, we both knew we wanted to go to Hawaii and we quickly decided on Maui. I know many people choose to visit a few islands while they’re there, but we decided to stay on Maui during our entire trip and I am so happy we did! There are so many things to do on Maui that we never got bored or wished we were headed anywhere else.

We stayed at the Grand Wailea. My goodness, this place is beautiful and I would 100% recommend staying there! We loved our excursions, but sometimes I was dying to get back to our hotel for the beach and pool!

I saw a few people with this pineapple float when we got there and it was a must have! I think I spent most of our trip floating in this pineapple and loved every second of it. πŸ™‚

We had a few excursions planned (all are linked at the end of this post) and we were so happy with all of them. I heard conflicting opinions on whether or not we should schedule excursions prior to getting there. I’m a planner, so I had all of our excursions and a few dinner reservations planned well in advance and I’m glad I did. Things really seemed to fill up quickly!

My favorite excursion was the Old Lahaina Luau. The food was amazing and they had a really great show! I wasn’t a huge fan of the pig roast, but I guess it’s all part of the experience ha!

My husband’s favorite thing was the snorkel cruise to Molokini Crater! They took us to two snorkeling spots and both were great! They also give you a ton of great food and were so nice and helpful throughout the day.

Another thing we liked was Clear Kayaks. The bottom of your kayak is clear and they send you into “turtle town,” where you can see a ton of them! We booked the 2 hour time slot, but ended up stopping way earlier. I started to feel a little sick, since I was looking down so much while on the water, but I would definitely recommend doing it, just for less time. Just a little side note- there is no actual location for this. They give you an address, but it’s actually just a truck on the side of the road with a ton of kayaks. Just sharing that because it took us a few minutes to find!

One of my favorite things we did was our Flytographer shoot. I had entered a contest to win a free photo shoot at any of their destinations and I won! (Thank you Flytographer!) I would absolutely recommend doing it because the pictures are beautiful and are such a wonderful memory for us. πŸ™‚

We heard so much about the Road to Hana that we figured we had to do it! While researching it, I came across a bamboo forest that is a bit beyond the Road to Hana, but we really wanted to see it, so we drove farther to get there.

We did make a few stops on the Road to Hana, but there are so many that you can’t do them all in one day. I’m sure there are a ton of great ones that we missed. I’ll take it as a reason to go back. πŸ™‚

I also had heard so much about mount Haleakala that I really wanted to go! We chose to go for sunset rather than sunrise. I’m sure that sunrise is amazing, but being from PA, we were already way off our time zone and couldn’t imagine getting up at 2am to get there in time haha! It’s a long and windy drive, but definitely worth it.

The sunset was incredible and I would say this is a must do, whether you go for sunrise or sunset. They now require reservations for sunrise, so make sure you check that out before going! It’s really an incredible experience. It’s very cold up there, though, so definitely bring something warm!

You have to pay to get into both the bamboo forest and Haleakala, but the pass is valid for 7 days. So if you decide to do both, make sure you save the ticket you get (whether it’s for the forest or for sunrise/sunset) and you’ll be able to use it for when you do the other. πŸ™‚
